Today was going to be a down day for me with no time to write anything of quality. Then this popped up via Listen Before You Buy. It seems too big of a deal not to share.
According to the official Joy Division/New Order website, founding member/bassist Peter Hook has taken an old track "Pictures in My Mind" from a recently recovered studio rehearsal tape from 1977 and finished it up with his vocals and some modern day mastering. The song will be released officially May 9 as part of an EP for Hook's new band The Light on his own digital label Hacienda Records. The track itself has a speedy tempo and post-punk riffs from the Warsaw era. Hook does his best Ian Curtis impression as the production has pushed his vocals upfront in a very non-Joy Division sort of way. A video of "Pictures in My Mind" will be released early next week.

Hook ain't no Ian, that's for sure.
