Junior Boys has been a fixture in the world of electronica in their current incarnation since 2003. The music from this Ontario duo blends genres such as disco, garage and R&B and is influenced by artists as diverse as J. Dilla and Frank Sinatra. After career works containing three full length albums and a bevy of remixes, the Boys are readying a fourth LP of new material for release. Recorded primarily in Shanghai, It's All True will hit these shores on June 14 through Domino Records. (The UK release date will be June 20.)
A track entitled "ep" has been made available for early enjoyment. This is a slow jam for sure with no true backing beat, but still manages to be slinky and sensual. Their trademark aching synths still pulse throughout the track, yet the vocals support the funky smoothness.
